You can see the difference between a song that has a lot of hard work behind it, and a song that's been done in an afternoon. I really like the song , however I can't really give much constructive criticism since I don't listen to trance in general.

On another note, where did you get those amazing sounds? Could you give me the name of the VST?

Pandasticality responds:

its Liquid Dubstep, not Trance n__n; i use ULTRAkILLER by NOVAkILL on this song, its a free VST for FL Studio 11, theres a few sites that give away free sample packs in WAV format for FL Studio(that has one-hit notes in them and occasionally a suprise VST), the VST:s do miracles, but i have a really hard time to learn how to use them so i mostly just mess around with them and see what i can do with them, as for the sounds, i mostly work with one-hit notes cuz they seem like the simplest to work with, i do have some sample loops but i never seem to get anything out of those :l thats why i work with one-hit notes & one-hit synths/basses etc, you can do so much with them n__n.

Thank you for your Review! Much Appreciated.

I'll have to agree with Rich on this one. I can't really say I'm finding any bad notes in this song, however it's like it's not really going anywhere. It almost seems like you can't decide on what melody to stick with so you keep alternating between them. People expect a song to have some sort of destination, to follow a road. And when you keep waiting for it to happen and realize it's not really going anywhere it leaves a bit of a nasty aftertaste. Even if there is no actual problem with the harmonies and with how the notes tie up with each other.

Thanks for the input!
It's not gong anywhere right now; it's just an idea and an experiment with chords and piano. I will for sure come up with a main melody soon.
I know what you mean by songs going somewhere. My favorite kinds of songs are cinematics, which tell a story. Again, I'll figure stuff out as I go. Add some transitions and melody.

I also agree with the comment below that this song would fit a cutscene really well. Personally I think it'd go really well in a movie as well. For me, it gives me the feeling that I'm back in the Arkham Asylum with the Joker up to his sinister plots, being hunted by criminals and having to hide in the shadows.

I don't know what this portal 2 mod is about, but the name " Repercussions" does give off an Arkham Asylum/ Bioshock sort of vibe. If this is what you're aiming for then you've hit the mark.

Frankly I find the quality of this to be astounding for a newgrounds piece and I'd include it in a standalone game , let alone a portal 2 mod. It must have really taken you a lot of time to make this. If I were you I'd put this in the game without any second thoughts. 5 stars. No question.

P. S. What VST did you use to get those sounds? They sound amazing.

Rich209 responds:

Thanks! It took me about three days or around 24 actual hours of work. For this piece I mostly used the Gold version of this http://www.soundsonline.com/Symphonic-Orchestra .

I like it. It reminds me a bit of those old Jazz Jackrabbit songs :D .
